Make your own cracker ‘Macca The Alpaca’ Christmas card! Just print out the template below and follow the easy steps to create your very own personalised ‘Macca’s Christmas Crackers’ card, coloured-in with love. It’s fun, festive and, best of all, free! Merry Christmas!!
Father's Day is almost here! You've got the socks/chocs/jocks sorted, but do you have a card?
Fear not! Simply print off this fun Father's Day card activity below, based on the picture book 'My Dad is a Robot' by Matt Cosgrove. Fold the paper in half, colour in the front picture and draw a portrait of you and your Dad in the polaroid frame on the back. Don't forget to say why you love your Dad. Write a message inside and then break out the robot dance moves, because your card is done!
Happy Father's Day everyone.
PS. Let your Dad sleep in! I bet he's really, really tired!!
Book Week is here again, and so begins the last-minute panic for a costume! Never fear, Macca the Alpaca is here (with his best pal Al)! Choose your favourite alpaca, or siblings/friends can recreate the dynamic duo from the picture book Alpacas With Maracas by Matt Cosgrove.
These simple print outs let the kids make their own costumes. Print the masks out on card, colour them in and cut them out. If you believe no craft project is complete without cotton wool - add as much as you want for Macca, or stick on strips of paper for Al's shaggy fleece.
Poke some eyeholes in and staple on some string or elastic to keep the mask in place. Alternatively, wear the mask headband style, giving the wearer that long alpaca neck (and increased visibility for the all-important parade!)
Every alapca needs some maracas! Most $2 Shops seem to stock some in the toy section, or print out the maracas below on card. More colouring fun for everyone!
If you don't want to dress up, these print outs still make great activities for the kids and awesome decorations for any classroom, bedroom or library wall. Have fun and HAPPY BOOK WEEK!
I'm beyond excited that Alpacas with Maracas has been chosen as the National Simultaneous Storytime book for 2019!
This year, over 1 million young people from Australia and New Zealand read the same book together on the same day at exactly the same time. I hope we can get even more reading in 2019!!
I'm thrilled to be part of such an awesome event and can't wait to get more kids reading!
Alpacas with Maracas, the follow up to Macca the Alpaca, is out now!
Macca and his best pal Al decide to enter a talent show, before the dreadful realisation - they don’t have any talent! It’s a fun story of friendship, giving everything a go and enjoying yourself, regardless of whether you come first or last.

Macca's back and shaking things up in a new adventure with his best pal, Al!
I'm super excited to reveal the cover of my next picture book - Alpacas with Maracas! It is officially hitting shelves on the 1st of July. Soon!! Lots of fun, rhyming text and bright, colourful illustrations exploring the themes of friendship and always trying your best, regardless of the outcome.
Written and illustrated by me. Published by Scholastic.
It was such a privilege (and mildly terrifying!) to speak in front of 5000+ students and teachers at Halogen Australia's National Young Leaders Day at the ICC in Sydney yesterday! Such great energy and enthusiasm from the leaders of tomorrow. I just had to grab a selfie with the crowd!
A massive thank you to everyone who attended and cheered for me! And thank you to Scholastic for their support and important message: Readers are Leaders!
Exciting News. Just two weeks after its release, Macca The Alpaca - written and illustrated by Matt Cosgrove and published by Scholastic, is already getting reprinted!
Thank you so much to everyone for the positive response and all the support and enthusiasm for Macca!
So thrilled to see Macca The Alpaca on a list of kids books recommended by the new Australian Children's Laureate, Morris Gleitzman, in The Sun Herald this past weekend. Amazing to be mentioned in such great company. Thank you Morris (and your bookseller friends!).
Celebrating the official release of two very different books today!
Macca the Alpaca is a cute picture book with simple, rhyming text for the little ones. It tells the story of a sweet, small alpaca who takes on a big, bully llama (named Harmer!) in a David and Goliath tale that shows brains can triumph over brawn and the importance of kindness.
Little Stunt Riding Hood is the 3rd book in the popular Epic Fail Tales series for primary school kids. A cheeky retelling of the traditional fairytale, it is filled with thrills and spills but no happily ever after!
Both books are written and illustrated by Matt Cosgrove, published by Scholastic and OUT NOW!
Being relegated to the kid's table is kind of awesome when you get to hang out with Kim Siew (illustrator of The Scared Book) and Mick Elliott (author of The Turners Trilogy).
A fun afternoon spent at Better Read Than Dead's Newtown Locals Evening.
